Serin D. Houston will give a lightning talk, entitled “Conceptualizing Sanctuary as a Process in the United States,” at the American Geographical Society “Borders and a Borderless World” Symposium on November 22, 2019. Houston will speak about why sanctuary is not merely a name for a city, county, or state, but rather a complex process that assumes a variety of forms around the US. The “Borders” symposium will be held November 21-22 at Columbia University in New York City.
